Transport North East

Transport Investments

Transport North East are responsible for driving and facilitating transformational change to the region’s transport network through the management of major transport investments. Transport North East’s Programmes Team work on behalf of the North East Joint Transport Committee, to manage several high-value programme funds, which are then delivered in collaboration with partners- the result being first-class improvements to some of the region’s key transport interchanges as well as the introduction of sustainable travel schemes.

TNE oversees compliance with the region’s Transport Assurance Framework process when managing major transport investments.

One of the major funds is the Transforming Cities Fund (TCF), which has provided the North East region with £208m for capital investment in sustainable transport networks – one of the largest TCF programmes in the UK.

Detailed below are some of the transport investments that are currently in delivery, having been funded by TCF.
